RACHEL
BARTON PINE…
has appeared as soloist
with the Chicago, St. Louis, Montreal, Vienna, and Budapest symphonies, with
conductors Semyon Bychkov, Neeme Jarvi, Erich Leinsdorf, and Zubin Mehta. She was the gold medal winner at the 1992
Quadrennial J.S. Bach International Violin Competition in Leipzig, the first American
and youngest ever to do so. Other
top awards came from the Queen Elisabeth, Paganini, Kreisler, Szigeti, and Montreal international violin
competitions. She also won the
prize for interpretation of the Paganini Caprices at
both the Paganini and Szigeti
competitions. In June 1996 Ms. Pine
was a torchbearer in the Olympic torch relay, and later performed at the
opening ceremonies of the Paralympic Games at
Centennial Olympic Stadium.
