THE TRADITION CONTINUES…
After the Vermeer Quartet retired from the concert
stage at the end of 2007, the University of Chicago’s Rockefeller Chapel asked their violist, Richard
Young, to continue to organize annual presentations of The Seven Last Words of Christ.
Having produced all the Vermeer’s performances of this work
since 1988, Mr. Young has chosen an approach that maintains continuity, yet
also reaches out in new directions.
He and Vermeer 2nd violinist, Mathias
Tacke, will perform their familiar inner-voice roles in a string quartet
that will also include two extraordinary young women: 1st violinist Rachel Barton Pine and cellist Wendy
Warner.
