Mr. Harry Porterfield . . .

Has been a feature news reporter with ABC 7 News  since 1985, appearing on various newscasts and serving occasionally as a substitute anchor.  He is known for the continuing series “Someone You Should Know.”  During his 21 years at WBBM prior, he co-anchored the WBBM news and created the Emmy-winning shows Channel Two: The People and Two on Two.  He received a B.S. in chemistry from Eastern Michigan University after serving time in the army, and earned his law degree from DePaul University.  His numerous awards include 11 Emmys for his news reporting, the first Outstanding Journalist Award presented by the Chicago Association of Black Journalists, and the Studs Terkel Award for Journalism.  As a jazz violinist, he is active on various music boards and occasionally performs.
