RICHARD
YOUNG…
was the violist of the
Vermeer Quartet since 1985. At age
thirteen he was invited to perform for Queen Elisabeth of Belgium. Since then he has been soloist with
various orchestras and has given solo and chamber music recitals throughout
North and South
America,
Europe, and the Far East. A special award winner in the
Rockefeller Foundation American Music Competition, he was a member of both the
New Hungarian Quartet and the Rogeri Trio. He now teaches at Northern Illinois University and North Park University, and gives master
classes all over the world. He also
does a substantial amount of volunteer work in inner-city Chicago – at the
People’s Music School and as supervisor of
the International Music Foundation’s extensive “outreach”
program.
