RICHARD YOUNG…

was the violist of the Vermeer Quartet since 1985.  At age thirteen he was invited to perform for Queen Elisabeth of Belgium.  Since then he has been soloist with various orchestras and has given solo and chamber music recitals throughout North and South America, Europe, and the Far East.  A special award winner in the Rockefeller Foundation American Music Competition, he was a member of both the New Hungarian Quartet and the Rogeri Trio.  He now teaches at Northern Illinois University and North Park University, and gives master classes all over the world.  He also does a substantial amount of volunteer work in inner-city Chicago – at the People’s Music School and as supervisor of the International Music Foundation’s extensive “outreach” program.
